A great site! Very informative and easy reading! After surfing through your whole site I felt very comfortable and secure in your knowledge and concern for this beautiful and relatively new breed. Although I am currently the proud momma of a four year old Chocolate Lab (my husband's a big-time outdoorsman), one of the reasons for the purchase of a sporting breed, and we also have a 10 month old Gold & White Shih Tzu, which was purchased mainly for me. I was looking for a cuddle bunny and now she cuddles mainly with my husband!! :) Since a child, though, I have always dreamed of owning a husky!! Although I love dogs in general, as you can see, the husky was always my true love, since childhood!! I didn't fulfill that dream yet because I read some things about the husky, aside from their beauty, which is a given, that they are big-time diggers and escape artists, if given the opportunity. I would be devastated if anything happened to one of my dogs!! Yet, when I discovered this new breed, I was thrilled!!! The husky I always wanted in a lap dog size with a lot of the husky habits removed or at least decreased! In the future, when I have more room in my home for another dog, the Alaskan Klee Kai is definitely the dog for me. I guarantee, you will be hearing from me in the future!!

Hi Im 12 years old and I have wanted a Siberain Husky all my life. I think they are the most beatufil dogs around. I just love there presonalites and all there qualies.I have many books about them that I read and reread. My mom and dad won't let my have a Husky because of there shedding and there size. I used to have a Husky/pit bulll mix that we had kept as a stray before I was born. He was mostly Husky we think he might have only had 25 percent pit bull. He was my dog and we did everything togerther. But when he was 17 and got cancer and we had to put him to sleep in October because we didn't want him to suffer. That was the hardest thing I had to do in my life i cried for days and often at night I will cry as I look at his empty dog bed where he slept in my room. I think of how it would be for me to have Husky. And I was just wondering if anyone knows how I feel and has any good advice of how to ease my pain of losing my bestfriend and not being able to have a Siberain Husky. Please e-mail me.

All my life I've loved Siberian huskies. They're so beautiful. This recent summer, I've discovered this 'little husky' breed from a book. I thought it was cute so I devoted all of my summer to seeking info on these pups. Lately, I've been finding my attention slowly returning to the siberian husky, but the knowledge of the klee kai is still there. Sorry, but the owners to this site don't answer their guestbook because of their busy schedules, so maybe you could learn from what I've learned. I found they're decended from the beautiful siberian huskies, Alaskan huskies, schipperke, and american eskimo. They have two shedding seasons, but because each is six months long, it's basicly all year round. They come in coats of black and white, grey and white, and the rare white. There is only one recorded red, and because of this, I like siberian huskies better. They can have any colored eyes as the siberian husky. They are much more of a lap dog than any other small breed. They are very energetic, but don't bark as much as ordinary small dogs. There are three sizes. Toy, minituare, and standard. There isn't much of a difference between them but their size. They are well behaved with proper training. They are not good guard dogs. They are escape artists, from the siberian husky, but they are a lot smaller and so can escape through and squeeze through closed areas easier. They climb too. They like snow, but are pretty good with heat too as long as it's not too hot. They need constant brushing, but that's a great social time for the two of you to bond. The general price of this rare puppy is between $1000 if you're lucky and $2000 if you want a show dog that fits every good standard and is perfect in the ring. If you want an adult, the price lowers a bit. Your web site is great, very informative. I have a few questions for you. I recently visited a cousin of mine who had a Klee Kai. I had never seen or heard about this breed but I fell in love with this dog. I've been thinking about getting a dog for awhile and hesitating but ever since I met this dog I feel like I must have one. I do have a few concerns and maybe you can help answer some of my questions. I know that they shed is that all year or just twice a year as described in your site. Also does brushing help a lot? My other major question concerns leaving them alone. We both work so the dog would be left alone for approximately 5-6 hours a day. Obviously for the first few weeks one of us would come home at lunch to feed/play with it. Do you think that this is a problem? Do you have any puppies available? What is the normal cost for a dog? I am looking for a pet not a show dog. Also I would consider an adult dog (1-3) years also if there are any available. We live in Rockland COunty, NY which I think is about 5 hours from Schroon Lake. Do you have any shows down in this area. I know there is usually a dog show at our local community college (RCC) once a year but I don't remember when it is, for some reason the spring sticks in my mind. I have enjoyed you site totally! I've just learned about this adorable breed from attending a Rare breed dog show. Hello-to the Helderbergs'! My son, Brodie, just showed me how to do this, so bear with me. I just want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your website, and also am interested in learning more about the Alaskan Klee Kai. I also have had AKC Siberian Huskies since abt. 1984, and I would say that they have been, for the most part, pet quality. I just got through selling my last litter (9 total). This was my first litter of puppies in 3 yrs., due to my mothers' ill health, and my motorcycle accident in Oct. 2000, I have not been breeding my Siberians. I have been to quite a few dog shows, here in Ar. and am familiar with the Innisfree line. On top of everything else, we too, are in the process of moving abt. 2300 miles from here, and have been trying to get moved for the past year. I will try to drop ya'll a letter via snail mail to further explain. But briefly, it seems as though one of my so-called neighbors dislikes hearing my Siberians tune-up, so in June 2002, they decided to poison 4 of them in their chain-link pens. Needlessly, I lost a beautiful 3 yr.old silver and white male, my pride and joy, my best friend...his name was Caesar's Galligher the Ghost, the "Ghostman". I'm still mad, I still cry, and that is why we're moving... We bought a gorgeous place (30 acres), with no "close neighbors" on a mountain top, and my dream is to be able to just get there-Ha! Then, I plan on having a sled dog team. I still have 9 older Siberians(5 males & 4 females) & 1 male blk./wht. Malamute, whose name is "Montana". I also kept 1 males & 3 females out of this last litter of 9. Sorry, I didn't mean to be so long winded, and will contact you guys in the future- My mother is scheduled for surgery this Wed. a.m., due to 7 more blood clots; so it will be after I get through/past all that. I currently have a 4 year old female siberian husky, we have family breed 2 times with the same male, taking consideration of markings, temperment, and size. out of the two liters (9) only 1 was sold to a individual that had never had a siberian, but he had done extensive research and knew what he was getting into. My wife purchased a male Siberian Husky for me for Christmas because I liked the look. Blue eyes curly tail with that wild wolf look to them. I collect wolf and eagle paintings etc. Little did we know what we had let ourselves in for. That was the Christmas of 1994. We went back and got his younger sister an year and a half later. We joined a recue group and fostered all their Siberian for them for two and a half years. We worked rescue with the other group and help out Adopt A Husky Inc. before joining them in January 2002. We now have a total of four of our own. Two Black and white from what we later learned to call a back yard breeder. One pure white, a rescue from our first rescue group and a red and white. Rusty is another rescue this one from AAHI. We are also fostering a fifth now for AAHI. We held our 2nd annual MN - Northern WI Husky Hike yesterday. Lois and group down south are on their fourth year hike fundraiser. Anyway yesteday one of the hikers for out fund raiser showed up with a Klee Kai and I was just enamored with the little guy and had to learn more. Surfing the web brought me to your website. We loved all the pictures and your explaination of the breeds origin. I would like to know more about them. I am not interested in showing or breeding or even owning at this point, although as I get older a lapdog Husky appeals to me. My 85 lbs alpha male thinks he's a lap dog no when I'm sittiong on the floor. Where would you suggest I start learning aobut this adorable little husky? I have a ton of questions. We have a five and a 1/2 yr. old sibe Sammi. She is a house dog or otherwise part of our family. At about 1 1/2 she took off for 3 days, came back with a broken leg. After 2 Vets. looked at her it looked like she would loose the leg. We then found Doctor Peterson in Galena Il. who pinned the break while on the phone with specialists from the U. of W. Madison. I like this web site. It has a lot of very useful information. I am currently on a waiting list for an alaskan klee kai and am very fascinated about the breed. I like hearing other peoples stories and experiences with their AKK. The only discouraging thing about the breed is the wait for puppies.

After seeing the movie Snow Dogs, my two children, as well as myself and my fiance fell in love with huskies. We bought a male red and white siberian, named Keno who was just 6 weeks old. That was back in September. Just a few days ago, I recieved a call from a dog pound that a 4-5 month old black and white siberian husky was dropped off and that it had been aparently mistreated. I went and bought it home with us. We named her Tanga and she is a sweetheart. These are such smart and loveable dogs I have ever been around. Most certainly a childs dog.

I love your website. I have a Husky/shepherd mixed that we saved from the spca in our local town in Pennsylvania . He was 10 months old when we got him and he will be 2 years old January 1, 2003. I am excited about your darling toy Alaskan Klee Kai dogs. I've owned Alaskan Malmutes and love them. I would get another one but I am now disabled with chronic disabeling pain. I now need a small dog (under 10lb) that I can pick up and hold and one that can sit in my lap without hurting me. I would like a dog that can be in the house and outside in minus o' degree weather sometimes because I live in NW Montana. What is the barking (and singing) pattern of this type of dog? Hi! I love Huskys!!! My friend had one and I was literally at her place everyday to be with her dog. I helped train her (Alya) and took her out to the dog run. I couldn't have one myself bcs my apt wasn't as big as my friends (she had a duplex, while I have only 3 bedrooms). I vowed that once I had my house, I would get my Husky, my Goldie and maybe a Sherperd. :-) I was actually surfing the net for an Eskimo (they are so beautiful) since they are smaller and will be ok in a 3 brd apt when I found out about the Klee Kai. I was so happy!!! My dream dog in a smaller version will be ok in a 3 brd. BUT, they are still so rare! Now I'm thinking if I should just move and maybe get into the breeding program. :-) That would be so awesome. Well, that's my story. :-)

What a wonderful site!!! I have been on the search for a Siberian Husky for a long time, but always had the dought about the size and if they where good with kids. I have 3 boys including a baby!!! By accident I got into your site. We live in Puerto Rico and never heard of the "Miniature Husky". Please send me info. I feel the same way you felt 20+ years ago.I also have some questions: Do they come with the blue eyes? Are they good with kids? Do they run away like the Huskies? i have enjoyed your website very much. it is very informitive. my husband used to have siberian huskies before we were married. and recently we have be considering on entering a new member to the family. we both love the siberian but i would prefer a smaller breed right now. when i came across the klee kai i immediately showed the picture to my husband. and now im doing my research on the breed before we make our final decition. i just dont want to make the choice until im sure this is the right dog for us.

I just found your website. I never before heard of the Alaskan Klee Kai. We just recently adopted a Siberian Husky. The AKK looks so cute. My husband wishes we had known about this breed earlier. With our 2 kids and our little Westie, I think the AKK would have been a better fit. I would love some info on how to obtain an AKK.
